Yesterday I woke up inspired to draw. It was the last day of the Christmas season, and Jesus is the reason for the season.
I spent the day drawing and stopped to go to church. After coming back home, I didn’t know if I should keep going, add more darks, or add paint. I felt compelled not do anything for now. This piece might be done. I have to think about it and look at it a few times before I decide.
Creating a piece of art is not a sudden transformation but usually happens quietly over time in small moments. Sometimes it’s best to pause instead of pushing. So I choose to take a break from the work and just be present with this piece. It’s not just about being present but about paying attention. I don’t need to rush this process.I just need to stay open.
Right now it’s graphite on 18×24 cold-pressed watercolor paper.
